Usborne Beginners: Horses and Ponies

M is pony-crazed so we’ve read lots of books both fiction and non-fiction about horses and ponies. Horses and Ponies from the Usborne Beginners series was one of the first non-fiction titles we chose when M’s horse and pony obsession blossomed around age 3. It provides simple information about different types of horses, how they are cared for, and the work that they do. This book works for a wide range of ages. The basic information and short text is good for the preschooler who wants to know more about horses, and it is written for beginning readers so a slightly older child could read it on her own.
We’ve enjoyed several other titles from the Usborne Beginners series including Ballet and Farm Animals. I highly recommend them.
