M and I started our holiday decorating this weekend. When my parents came for Thanksgiving, they brought all the pieces of my Heritage Collection Dickens Christmas Village that I’d collected in the early 90s. I thought M was old enough to enjoy setting it out and to carefully play with the pieces.
We had a blast setting it up and then we made a candy display based on one in Martha Stewart Holiday Season’s Eatings magazine (which I highly recommend by the way).
We made a centerpiece for the dining room table with a candle, a platter and some small ball ornaments, and we covered the table with a gingerbread house table cloth. Today we made an Advent wreath at church and M is very excited about lighting the candles each day as well as opening her Advent calendar which is on the fridge. We’ve got lots of baking planned for this week as well as more decorating. On Friday I’m going to her school to do some crafts with the students including a pipe cleaner and bead wreath ornament from Kids Craft Weekly and cardstock angels from Usborne’s Christmas Fun.
