M and I went to the main branch of our country’s library on Saturday. We love our neighborhood branch and we request many books to be picked up there but we like to visit the larger children’s area downtown when we have more time to explore.
I’d written down lots of books to look for and M had many requests as well. Between the two of us, we were barely able to carry all our acquisitions back to the car.
Here’s what we picked up:
Stories of Unicorns – an Usborne Young Reading book
Cam Jansen and the Birthday Mystery by David Adler
Eye of the Beholder by Daniel Hayes – I don’t know anything about this book. M was intrigued by the picture on the cover. I read the description to her and she wanted to try it. I’m going to give it a quick preview to see what I think.
All of a Kind Family Uptown by Sydney Taylor – I’ve been slowly collecting the out of print books in this series. I am so sad that they are not readily available!
Monday with a Mad Genius by Joan Pope Osborne – We reached this point in the Magic Tree House series and stopped several months ago and M has gotten interested again.
Roxie and the Hooligans Phyllis Reynolds Naylor – I saw this book on a list recommended for readers who like Clementine by Sara Pennypacker. We just finished it and M loved it.
Hen’s Pens – We’re chicken sitting for our neighbors this week so a hen book seemed very appropriate.
Percy and the Pirates – Usborne First Reading series, M loves this series, I intend to post more about her reading journey soon.
Eloise’s Pirate Adventures by Lisa McClatchy– M has been very into the animated Eloise series recently.
How Elephants Lost Their Wings – Usborne First Reading series
If the Dinosaurs Came Back by Bernard Most – M saw this one and picked it out.
One Little Penguin and His Friends by Claudine Gevry – A book with moving parts which M picked out for C.
Night Rabbits by Monica Wellington
Pizza at Sally’s by Monica Wellington
Mooncake by Frank Asch
No Matter What by Emma Dodd – a sweet book about a mother and baby elephant
Usborne Touchy Feely Farm – C is very into books with textures right now.
Usborne Touchy Feely Kittens
Gallop! – M loves the moving pictures and so does C but too much of it gives me a headache.
Curly the Pig – an Usborne Farmyard Tales book. Can you tell we love Usborne Books?
One Snowy Night by Nick Butterworth – I saw this one at Nina’s blog.
