I made this handbag from the pattern in Amy Karol’s Bend the Rules Sewing. I made the bag 10% larger than the suggested size and I made the handles twice as long so I could put it over my shoulder if I wanted to. I used a grosgrain ribbon instead of a velvet one though I would have used velvet if they’d had it in red at the store where I got the fabric.
I had fun playing around in the fabric store, and I love the fabric I ultimately chose. At first I was going to use fabric from my stash, but I decided I really wanted to pick out something spring-y. I spent $12 on fabric, and I had enough left over to cut out a doll dress, 2 napkins, and two No Cash Wallets (also from Bend the Rules Sewing) which will be filled with treat money and given to the girls when we go on our beach trip in June.
