We picked up Bubble Homes and Fish Farts by Fiona Bayrock from the library. We’ve recently done several experiments with bubbles and watched an awesome video of dolphins playing with bubbles so I knew M would love it.
The balance of text and illustrations was perfect. M wanted to hear every word, and the illustrations and captions above the animals fit the book perfectly. This is my favorite kind of children’s non-fiction, the kind where I learn lots of cool facts that I can wowing other adults with. I think everyone should know that heron pass gas to communicate with one another and that snapping shrimp use bubbles to make noises so loud they can interfere with naval sonar.
This week’s Non-Fiction Monday Round Up is at Rasco from RIF.
