I have stayed up far too late the last few night devouring How To Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish. It’s very user friendly for tired parents. At the beginning of the chapter, the authors list several new skills or behaviors that will improve communication, reduce the need for nagging and scolding, help you teach your kids autonomy. And each chapter has several concrete examples showing the suggestions in action with a wide range of ages from toddlers to teens.
I’ve read several parenting and self-improvement books lately that described great theories but didn’t show you how to put the theory into practice and that always makes me close the book and go look for something else to inspire me. This book has advice that I think is going to help me a lot in my quest to be a more gentle, respectful parent and it shows me exactly how to put that advice to use. I highly recommend it
Well with a title like that – you got me! I’ll be looking for this one for sure. Thanks for sharing about it!
Just got mine at the library, thanks for the review, digging in tonight 🙂
