I have the pleasure of rounding up posts about What My Children Are Reading this week. Please leave a link in the comments to your own post about what you’re reading with your children, your students, you grandchildren, your library patrons, etc. in the comments. Anyone who reads to children is welcome to join in.
M and her dad are about halfway through Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and she’s still loving it. She and I finished Up and Down the Scratchy Mountains and we’re starting Kit’s American Girl books.
We’ve had some wonderful snuggly picture book reading sessions this week. There’s nothing like cuddling under a blanket on the couch first thing in the morning with crisp fall air flowing in the window and a stack of delightful books in front of you. Some titles we’ve particularly enjoyed are The Little Yellow Leaf by Carin Berger, Little Blue and Little Yellow by Leo Lioni, Baby Whales Drink Milk by Barbara Juster Esbensen, Dinosaur Babies by Kathleen Weidner Zoehfeld, The Rusty Trusty Tractor by Joy Cowley, Bones, Bone, Dinosaur Bones by Byron Barton, Bear Snores On by Karma Wilson, and Clip Clop by Nicola Smee.
What other people are reading:
Jill at The Well-Read Child is having lots of fall reading fun.
At Mouse Grow, Mouse Learns, Natalie and her daughter shared lots of picture books.
At Art of Irreverence, a mom and her daughters are checking out some banned books.
Lots of great animals reads and more at Children Grow, Children Explore, Children Learn.
And check out the comments for more great book that are being read this week.

Lots of non-fiction texts in my new reading workshop, plus a little of The Invention of Hugo Cabret in read aloud format, which my ELL’s love. Such vivid illustrations!
Hi there. Here’s what we have at the Art of Irreverence this week: http://artofirreverence.com/2009/10/01/ggr-11/ -thanks!
Finished Homer Price; starting Henry Huggins. Also some really interesting poems/historical fiction books about ancient Egypt. Preschooler is hooked on The Story of Ping. Listening to The Magic Treehouse in the car.
Sarah, if you haven’t seen Pharoah’s Boat by David Weitzman, you should check it out while you’re studying Egypt.
Nice choices. We read some of your selections in the past and liked them. I am putting Clip Clop on my reading list 🙂
Thanks Natalie. I’ve read Clip Clop numerous times today and my 2.5yo laughs hysterically every time 🙂
I am going to have to add these books to my list and see if we have them at our library! Here is my URL http://whisperswhispering.blogspot.com/2009/10/books-we-are-reading.html
